16. Devotional books by James Smith (1802-1862)

1. The Believer's Daily Remembrancer

2. The Believer's Daily Remembrancer, Or Pastor's Evening Visit

3. Daily Bible Readings for the Lord's Household

James Smith (1802-1862) as a young child fell into a well and was remarkably rescued from death. His passion as a preacher of the gospel was to rescue “many poor ungodly sinners from a far deeper well.” He pastored several Particular Baptist congregations, including the New Park Street Chapel (1842-1850), where years later C. H. Spurgeon took the pastorate. His succinct devotional style is fresh and memorable.
